$160,000/yr – $170,000/yr (from job description)
The Program Officer supports the Foundation’s grantmaking in the Homelessness Initiative, which works to realize a Los Angeles where homelessness is rare, brief, and non-reoccurring. Reporting to the Senior Program Officer (SPO), the Program Officer serves as a thought partner and will have primarily responsibility for managing individual grants in the Initiative’s portfolio. The Program Officer will work closely with the SPO to design, implement, and monitor a portfolio of grants in alignment with the implementation of the board approved strategy. The Officer will help to identify potential grantees, assist with proposal development, and provide grantee technical support, as well as monitor grant progress.
The ideal candidate must be a proactive team player with excellent multi-tasking skills. The individual must have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand, interpret, and translate qualitative and quantitative data. S/he will be expected to resolve time-sensitive issues with a high degree of precision and exhibit strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and the ability to anticipate needs are a must. The candidate must also have relevant experience around issues and best practices in or related to ending homelessness as well as Los Angeles County’s political and policy environment and experience with the philanthropic levers available to help drive toward the strategy’s key goals.
