Judicial Council Agreed to Allocate State Funding to Help Seven Superior Courts Implement the CARE Act.

The Trial Court Budget Advisory Committee recommended an allocation methodology to distribute $2,828,000 to the seven courts making up the first cohort of courts implementing the Community Assistance, Recovery, and Empowerment (CARE) Act in fiscal year (FY) 2022–23.

Seven superior courts—Glenn, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne—will receive a share of $2,828,000 as the first cohort of courts that will launch CARE Act programs by October 2023. The 2022 Budget Act allows funding for staff or other administrative costs for the seven trial courts in these counties to begin planning implementation.
