Does anyone have more details about the $50 million to lease rooms in hotels, motels, and other facilities in partnership with counties and cities to provide immediate isolation placements throughout the state for homeless individuals as noted in Executive Order? Please post comment if you do.

Question: Are you using HMIS to track COVID-related motel stays or other interventions? We are considering creating a isolation/quarantine program in our HMIS but are also hesitant to create more work for everyone. Please share how you are tracking your responses on a client-level.

Question: What do you have in place to facilitate data sharing between city/county departments? We are struggling to cross reference HMIS data with Public Health data due to HIPAA restrictions. We are trying to collaboratively identify the most vulnerable to place them in motels due to COVID-19.

Question: Does your community gather information on homeless deaths from your medical examiner/coroner’s offices plus local hospitals? In VC, our Medical Examiner has told us that they do not have the complete data on # of deaths especially of those that are admitted to a hospital and die in that setting. Please let us know if your community has established a process for collecting this data. Thank you!

The Southern California Continuums of Care Alliance website:

  • Offers various ways Alliance representatives can interact with one another that include

    • posting comments;

    • asking questions;

    • providing answers;

    • advertising job opportunities and internships;

    • conducting polls and surveys among Alliance members;

    • announcing special projects and events;

  • Provides access to various Alliance documents and publications that include Continuum of Care Program applications, homeless count and survey reports, homelessness plans, governance charters, and other timely documents that help advance effective policies and practices;

  • Shares current information to help local stakeholders and decision-makers shape policies to prevent and end homelessness;

  • Encourages other continuums of care to interact with Alliance members and share information;

  • Solicits the support of a wide-range of public and private partners that can help shape local policies, programs, and projects.
